Community of Wadgassen: Solution Demography

The automated processing and visualisation of data in Wadgassen frees up time and human resources, allowing staff to focus on their core competencies. Through Polyteia’s solution, the decision-makers have strategically addressed the quality of their data. This has allowed common standards to be established between the pilot municipalities from the outset, which supports the long-term potential for comparability of developments and the exchange of best practices in policy evaluation. Wadgassen sees long-term potential in the cooperation with Polyteia, also in other areas such as fire brigade management or infrastructure planning.

Data sources

To collect the data, demographic data from the central population register and statistics offices of the country are automated, cleansed, integrated, transformed and aggregated. The data is then made available in a user-centric way on intuitive dashboards.

The users in the municipality of Wadgassen are convinced of the added value that the dashboards generate to support decision-making in various specialist areas. Questions such as “How has my population developed and how will it develop in the future?” or “What does the population structure in my municipality actually look like?” are relevant, for example, for daycare and school development planning. An increase in the number of people moving away from a certain age group can indicate that there is a lack of services for certain population groups. The mayor, Sebastian Greiber, would also like to use Polyteia to plan the day-care centres in the future.

“Visualising existing data on a daily basis for planning and visualising existing data on a daily basis for planning and decision-making processes is a building block of our ‘Smartgassen’ strategy. With the ‘Demography’ solution, we can replace the “political gut feeling” based on facts. We want to expand the dashboard with further solutions, especially for daycare and school development planning.”
