Polyteia & msg systems ag win €52 million framework contract

Berlin, August 1st, 2023. We are very pleased to announce that, together with a consortium led by msg systems ag, we have been awarded a framework contract for the State of Berlin with a total volume of €52 Mio.

The framework contract has a term of 48 months and is awarded by the IT Service Center Berlin (ITDZ Berlin).

Entitled to draw on this framework contract are all agencies of the State of Berlin, including the direct state administration, the courts, the administration of the House of Representatives, as well as third parties who use the services of the ITDZ Berlin through procurement procedures, such as the Senate Chancellery, SenWEB or LABO.

At the beginning of the year, Berlin’s new government under Kai Wegner laid the foundations for a fundamental administrative reform in its coalition agreement. With this framework contract, we can now implement these goals, drive digitalisation in the public sector and, in particular, support administrations in making data-driven decisions.

We are particularly grateful for the trust placed in us by msg systems ag, which has recognized the potential of a partnership between established companies that enjoy a high reputation in the public sector and innovative start-ups with disruptive approaches.

More than 80 public institutions are already using our data platform for use cases such as social planning, crisis management and budget control.

And this is just the beginning. Stay tuned for more news to come soon!

Polyteia raises 5 million from HV Capital

Berlin, March 1st, 2023. Polyteia, the leading data platform for governments revolutionizing the way public authorities make decisions and operate their services, has secured €5 million in a funding round led by HV Capital with participation from existing investors like DvH Ventures. The funding will be used to further develop the company’s platform and expand its market footprint in the DACH region and beyond.

To empower European governments with data-driven decisions, Polyteia is further expanding its SaaS data platform’s transformation stack and no-code/low-code
capabilities, as well as building data solutions for various government use cases. In addition to its software directly to the customer, Polyteia plans to onboard technology partners using its platform and infrastructure for building a large scale data use case ecosystem for the public sector.

More than 80 governments like states of Schleswig-Holstein or Saarland as well as national level ministries in Germany successfully use Polyteia’s data platform in the fields of social service planning, crisis response or budget controlling. Therewith Polyteia is improving decisions impacting more than 2 million citizens and 400,000 businesses just in Germany. The government entities rely on the company’s strong public sector focus and domain knowledge as well as its platforms high data protection, security and sovereignty standards.

Faruk Tuncer: “I am thrilled to have the support of HV Capital as we continue to revolutionize the way governments make decisions based on data. Governments worldwide invest and spend trillions on their services. In the Euro Zone alone, half of GDP is directly or indirectly generated by government expenditures. Equally public sector institutions are under high digitization pressure by more than one third of their workforce retiring until 2030. Polyteia’s platform will be crucial in empowering them in their capabilities of solving 21st century challenges with better data against the backdrop of these trends. This new funding will allow us to further develop our data platform and bring it to many more governments in DACH and beyond.”

Said Haschemi, Investment Manager at HV Capital, said, “HV is excited to partner up with Polyteia to serve the public sector’s massively growing need for scalable software solutions. Governments must manually navigate through a flood of data to make the right decision – a process that is timely and too often error prone. With Polyteia, decision makers in the public sector finally have access to the right data with a click of a button. HV is looking forward to working with Faruk and the team to help the company to build the first government SaaS category leader in Europe.”

Duc Quyen Tran, Partner at DvH Ventures: “We are pleased to continue supporting Polyteia and are highly confident in the company’s ability to revolutionize the GovTech industry. We look forward to seeing the impact of the company’s platform on governments and citizens alike in this next phase of acceleration.”

Panel discussion with Polyteia COO, Federal Minister of Justice and the Head of the Bundeswehr Cyber Innovation Hub

COO and Managing Director Alexa Möller discussed the role of start-ups in the digital transformation of the administration with Federal Minister of Justice Dr Marco Buschmann and the Head of the Cyber Innovation Hub of the German Armed Forces, Sven Weizenegger.

Berlin, 19 January 2023 – As part of the GründerDialog, the FDP parliamentary group regularly invites representatives from the start-up landscape and the start-up scene to roundtable discussions.

In order for the public sector in Germany to benefit from the innovative power of the German start-up scene, procurement processes must be reformed and the public sector must be made more accessible as a market for start-ups.

There is also a need for a faster shift to cloud technology and SaaS solutions in order to benefit from scalability and flexibility, reduce costs and compensate for staff shortages. Only then will a sustainable digital transformation of the public sector become possible.

With Polyteia’s data platform, public administrations in Germany are already benefiting from the scalability and flexibility of these technologies.

Polyteia Founder & CEO develops recommendations for action for the State Department and the U.S. Department of State at the G-7 Summit

Polyteia Founder & CEO Faruk Tuncer discusses how GovTech innovations can help strengthen the trust and sovereignty of democratic institutions.

Berlin, 3. November 2022 – As one of 140 experts from the United States and Germany, Polyteia Founder & CEO Faruk Tuncer participated in the first German-American Future Forum. Organised by the Bertelsmann Stiftung, it took place on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Münster.

In the workshop group “Strengthening democracy at home: Realising Democracy Digitally”, he developed recommendations for action for the German Foreign Office and the U.S. Department of State. The group looked in particular at how democratic states can become more resilient with the help of modern technologies. The result is a joint call for the establishment of a standards organisation between the EU and the USA.

Interoperability of software systems in public administration is at the core of fast and resilient processes. We are therefore very pleased that the proposal has been taken up and highlighted by Foreign Minister Anna-Lena Baerbock.

Polyteia Founder & CEO in conversation with Franziska Giffey at the Smart Country Convention

Polyteia Founder & CEO Faruk Tuncer discusses at the Smart Country Convention with Berlin’s Mayor Franziska Giffey how the innovative power of Berlin’s startup scene can be better used for the digital transformation of the administration.

Faruk Tuncer und Franziska Giffey

Berlin, 19 October 2022 – With more than 12,000 participants, the Smart Country Convention is Germany’s leading convention for the digitalisation of the public sector. Here, innovators from the digital industry come together with key decision-makers from the federal, state and local governments and renowned experts from science and associations.

With his appearance on the largest stage of SCCON22, Polyteia CEO Faruk Tuncer joins the leading minds of public sector digitisation in Germany.

Although Berlin has good funding programmes compared to the rest of Germany, it does not make sufficient use of the potential of its large start-up scene. The state must act much more strongly as a strategic client and buyer for Berlin start-ups and innovative companies. The administration and citizens would benefit from this: Through successful digitalisation, more sovereignty and better services.

Saarland rolls out data platform for demography statewide

From now on, the 58 municipal administrations and state authorities of the Saarland can analyse their population development on the basis of the population register data on a daily basis and forecast it on a small scale. The aim is to support planning and decision-making with data. For this purpose, the Zweckverband eGo-Saar works together with the Berlin-based GovTech company Polyteia, whose data platform is used for public administration.

Berlin / Saarbrücken, 7. Juni 2022 – In Germany, public administration is only just beginning to use data. In particular, data from the registers and specialised procedures, although well maintained, exist in silos and are still used far too rarely for decision-making and planning processes. The Saarland is breaking new ground here.

The more than 58 municipal administrations as well as state authorities can now analyse the population development on the basis of the population register data on a daily basis and forecast it on a small scale. For this purpose, the Zweckverband eGo-Saar provides the data platform of the GovTech company Polyteia throughout the state. This platform automatically processes data from the population register and prepares them as daily analyses of population development (e.g. influx, births, age structure) as well as forecasts of the population by age cohorts and districts.

With a view to the current crisis situation of refugees from Ukraine, the Saarland municipalities also receive a special evaluation that is updated weekly. Here, the focus is particularly on age groups relevant to care and school-age groups. From the corresponding data, the Saarland municipalities, city administrations and district offices as well as state authorities should be able to anticipate the short- and medium-term additional burden on the social infrastructure such as daycare centres and schools in good time, estimate the effects and react accordingly on the basis of the data – without additional manual effort.

The data solution in the area of demography was already successfully piloted and tested in 2021 with the municipalities of Wadgassen, St. Ingbert, Gersheim and Wadern. Sebastian Greiber, mayor of the municipality of Wadgassen, is one of the first users. “With Polyteia’s platform, I have access to cleansed data and visualisations for the demographics of our municipality at any time. Last year, we already carried out our school and day-care planning along the evaluations of the population registration data from Polyteia. This enabled us to react early to the rising birth rates and to expand childcare capacities in time. In the municipality of Wadgassen, all families get a KITA place at short notice,” comments Greiber.

Faruk Tuncer, founder and managing director of Polyteia welcomes the openness and progress orientation of the project. “The Saarland and the Zweckverband eGo-Saar are taking on a pioneering role in data-based governance and administration with the roll-out of automated aggregation, transformation and processing of resident registration data,” Tuncer underlines.

“With Polyteia’s sovereign data platform, we have an administration-compliant solution at our side with which we can jointly drive data use in our member administrations and thus digital transformation,” explains Stephan Thul, Managing Director of the Zweckverband eGo-Saar. The state-wide data solution in the area of demography is only the prelude to many other use cases, such as daycare and school planning, financial controlling and personnel management, in which the data platform will be used.

The Zweckverband „Elektronische Verwaltung im Saarland – eGo-Saar“ is the point of contact for the Saarland state government for joint e-government projects, thereby ensuring cooperation across administrative levels in Saarland.
The eGo-Saar offers its members basic infrastructures, network services and computing services for sustainable administrative modernisation.
